Safety tips
Most people here want something genuine, but stay careful. These habits protect you.
Before you meet
- Chat inside DateForReal first. Move to other apps only when comfortable.
- Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you have not met — whatever the story. This is the most common scam.
- Do a quick video call before meeting. Look for inconsistencies in their story or photos (try a reverse image search).
- Do not share your home address, workplace or financial details.
On the first date
- Meet in a public place, in daylight or a busy venue, and arrange your own transport.
- Tell a friend where you are going and who with; share your live location if you like.
- Keep control of your drink and phone. Trust your gut — you can leave at any time.
Using DateForReal
- Block or report anyone from their card or chat. Blocked people never see you again.
- Reports are reviewed by a human. Serious violations lead to bans.
- ID verified badge: every matchable member has had an ID document and a selfie reviewed manually by our team. There is no automated check, so still follow the safety tips above.
- The “Did you meet?” check-in is private. Tell us if something went wrong and we will act.
In immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in the EU, 911 in the US).
